Who's going....Part one.

There is an incredible line up for this mosaic gathering in Chile. 11 artists from the UK, 12 if you count the lovely Rachel Silver http://www.rachelsilvermosaics.co.uk/  who is actually from New Zealand but has been living in London for many years.  Also from London  is the world re-known Gary Drostle http://www.drostle.com/mosaicartist.html who was both the President and the Chairman of BAMM.  Then there is Elizabeth De Art http://inspiredmosaics.co.uk/ who is now the Chairman of BAMM and was actually my mosaic tutor way back in about 2000. There is Julie Norburn who runs Art 4 Space http://www.art4space.co.uk/ . I can remember losing commissions to Art 4 Space many years ago when I was part of the Living Space Arts collective. So looking forward to working along side her now. From Birmingham there is my doppelganger Caroline Jariwala http://www.carolinejariwala.com/ (we share the same name, age, are both from borough of Hounslow and share a passion for adding kitsch vintage ceramics to our work. Buckinghamshire should be extremely proud to be represented by Melaine Watts.http://melaniewattsmosaics.artweb.com/ Melaine and I were both recently in the 'You've been Framed' group show held in the W3 Gallery in Acton. Probably the youngest of the group will be Joshua Gordon. He has been studying the craft of mosaics  at  South Bank Mosaic http://www.southbankmosaics.com/  He recently came and did some volunteer work at my studio - The Treatment Rooms HQ, making a flying eyeball to adorned the front of my house. From London there is also Tamara Froud http://www.artmosaicdesign.co.uk/index.html one of the hard working committee members of BAMM. Wales is be representing by Stephanie Roberts http://www.stephanierobertsart.com. I only just met this artist at the last BAMM conference look forward to meeting her again shortly.  I will be travelling over to Chile with Sian Smith and Sophie Love. Sian has a background in film ( and up until recently hosted her own radio host - The Hole Truth). For the last couple of years she has been working alongside me making mosaics. She recently exhibited in the 'Riot Here Riot Now' political craft exhibition - mosaicing a police womans helmet!! Sophie, like me has a degree in Fine Art and is coming along to help document the project - and hopefully stick a few tiles up.
Wow - what a line up - and that's just from the UK.
I am so excited that my Churchill award has already helped to bring  together such a diverse and talented group of  UK artists for this extraordinary mosaic intervention in Chile.

I will also re-unite with artists from other parts of the world that I have worked with in recent years. From Argentina will be Bruno Sirota. Bruno and I  met in Argentina in 2010 when I went to work on a similar project.. Arte X Parte brought over 40 artists together from around the world to make public art for the front of the cultural center in the town of Berazateui. http://artepublicoberazategui.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/arte-x-parte-entramado-cultural.html  . I will post some videos from the project at bottom of this post. This is where I  first met Rachel Silver. We both returned along with Sian Smith in 2012 to take part in part 2 of this project. One of the other international artists was Orlando Guier, part of the community arts group called Perro Ceramico. I am so excited about seeing both Bruno and Orlando again.
